Building Global Bridges Through Education, Entrepreneurship, and Collaboration
The FEU Tech Innovation Center (FTIC) emerged as a central force in Philippine Startup Week 2025, leading a unified celebration of Filipino innovation that brought together education, entrepreneurship, and collaboration under one shared vision. As an official Community Event Partner, FTIC transformed its facility into a vibrant innovation hub where students, startup founders, faculty members, and industry leaders converged to explore how Filipino ideas can grow, scale, and compete on a global stage.
More than a series of events, FTIC’s Philippine Startup Week initiative unfolded as a singular, interconnected experience, one that showcased how academic institutions can actively shape the future of the startup ecosystem. Through immersive discussions, founder stories, mentorship-driven showcases, and ecosystem gatherings, FTIC demonstrated its mission to position education as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and to develop globally competitive, purpose-driven Filipino innovators.
Throughout the week, the FEU Tech Innovation Center served as a living example of innovation in action. Conversations moved fluidly from classrooms to conference halls, from founder keynotes to mentorship exchanges, and from student pitches to ecosystem-wide collaboration. At the core of it all was a shared belief: that Filipino creativity, when supported by the right environment, can transcend borders.
Central to this experience was the dialogue on how Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can navigate the challenges of global expansion. Discussions emphasized that while many Filipino businesses face constraints in capital, infrastructure, and access to international markets, they also possess defining strengths—resilience, adaptability, ingenuity, and cultural depth. When paired with technology and global partnerships, these strengths become powerful drivers of growth.
This vision was powerfully embodied by Mr. Dennis Velasco, Founder and CEO of Prosperna, whose story anchored the week’s conversations. A Filipino founder with global experience, Velasco shared how his journey—from helping manage a family business to working in Silicon Valley—shaped his understanding of both grassroots entrepreneurship and world-class technology ecosystems. Launched in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, Prosperna was built to address the urgent need for Filipino MSMEs to digitize, survive, and thrive.
Velasco spoke candidly about the realities of building for global markets: earning trust across borders, developing strong and authentic brands, localizing products for diverse cultures, and gaining access to international networks. Yet his message was ultimately one of optimism. These challenges, he emphasized, are opportunities for Filipino entrepreneurs to innovate boldly, collaborate strategically, and use technology as a bridge to global relevance. His vision—to empower one million Filipino businesses—resonated deeply with students and founders alike, reinforcing the idea that Filipino-built solutions can succeed anywhere in the world.
As conversations continued, the focus naturally shifted from ideas to execution—from inspiration to impact. FTIC highlighted how innovation thrives not in isolation, but within strong communities. This spirit of collaboration was reflected in the gathering of mentors, partners, and ecosystem leaders who collectively support the growth of student startups and early-stage ventures.
As Philippine Startup Week 2025 came to a close, FTIC’s presence left a lasting impression. The experience was not defined by individual sessions or standalone programs, but by a continuous narrative of growth, collaboration, and global ambition. It showcased how Filipino innovators—when equipped with education, mentorship, and opportunity—can build solutions that matter both locally and internationally.
Through its integrated Philippine Startup Week initiative, the FEU Tech Innovation Center reaffirmed its role as a launchpad for globally competitive Filipino startups. By bridging education with entrepreneurship and connecting local talent to global opportunity, FTIC continues to help shape a future where Filipino innovation is not only heard—but scaled, sustained, and celebrated worldwide.
