Community Extension Service Unit


 

I. Introduction

The Community Extension Service Unit is a component of the Student Affairs and Community Services Office that aims to organize, and implement opportunities for the Associates and students through community outreach activities.

Following the three (3) functions of Higher Educational Institutions, community outreach is the culmination of the two (2) other functions namely instruction and research. The Community Extension Service Unit provides opportunity to Associates and students to demonstrate their commitment in sharing their expertise in their respective professional fields to communities and organizations.

II. Vision, Mission and Core Values

II.1 Vision

The Student Affairs and Community Services Office is a center of highest quality services focused on the holistic development of the entire FEU Tech community.

II.2 Mission

To provide avenues to FEU Tech students, associates and alumni to be pro-active in socio-political-environmental problems both local and national through the community service unit program and services.

II.3 Core Values

FEU Tech SACSO-CESU is committed to:

Advocacy

We continuously support local and national concerns in the form of social forums and promotions of personal responsibility in nation building

Compassion

We endeavor to provide services to meet the changing needs of our partners’ community and or NGO. We listen attentively to their concerns, and are non-judgmental and open to their opinions and points of view. Embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

Empowerment

We work towards Clientele Efficiency in Solving problem with Utmost skills

III. Goals

III.1 To enhance the expertise of the partner communities and/or organizations on technological skills.

III.2 To promote concern and pro-active response to address ecological issues by providing opportunities to Associate to participate in environmental projects;

III.3 To increase the awareness of the Associates and student with the current social issues/problems by conducting Social Issue Awareness Seminars/Symposia;

III.4 To promote and/or enhance the spirit of volunteerism between and among Associates and students by conducting volunteer formation training programs;

III.5 To generate needed resources to facilitate the implementation of the college community involvement project by conducting resource generation activities.

III.6 To enhance college community program and services.

IV. STRATEGIES AND OBJECTIVES

IV.1 To enhance the expertise of marginalized communities and/or organizations on technological and livelihood skills.

OBJECTIVES/STRATEGIES:
1. To conduct in – house and in location short term skills training through the different academic department and Recognized Student Organizations (RSO).
2. To enhance the employability of our partners community and non-government organization specifically the out-of-school youth.
3. To provide the partners community and non-government organization with tools of the trade for entrepreneurship.

IV.2 To promote concern and pro-active response to address ecological issues. by providing opportunities to Associate to participate in environmental projects.

OBJECTIVES/STRATEGIES:
1. To participate in the national activities on environmental concerns.
2. To provide opportunities to associates and students to protect and enrich our natural environment.

IV.3 To increase the awareness of the Associates and student with the current social issues/problems by conducting Social Issue Awareness Seminars/Symposia.

1. To give an avenue to the whole college, community and NGO partners on the concerns both national and local importance.
2. To help associates, students, community and NGO partners prepare and update for issues affecting their day to day activity

1. To raise the level of awareness among associates and students in recognizing and valuing voluntary action.
2. To strengthen community connectedness and social cohesion.

1. To inculcate the value of sharing and caring through fund raising activities
2. To mold the college to become responsive members of the society in time of natural disasters and calamities.

IV.6 To enhance college community extension program and services.

1. To have an annual evaluation of the different programs and services both departmental and institutional.
2. To have annual meeting with the partner NGO’s and community.
